General Information

The Weber Harmonic Suppressor is designed to reduce unwanted overtones created by the strings between the bridge and tailpiece of acoustic instruments. These sympathetic vibrations can contribute to excess noise, especially in recording environments where clarity and tonal balance are critical.

Whether you are recording in a studio or simply looking to achieve the best possible tone from your instrument, the Weber Harmonic Suppressor helps provide a cleaner, more focused sound.

A Harmonic Suppressor can also make tuning easier by reducing parasitic harmonics that may cause electronic tuners to fluctuate or respond inconsistently.

Installation is quick and simple. The Weber Harmonic Suppressor snaps securely onto the strings between the bridge and tailpiece and can be installed or removed easily.

The Harmonic Suppressor is available for mandolin, mandola, octave mandolin and mandocello. Models are sized to match common string spacing measured from the center of the bass strings to the center of the treble strings:

  • Mandolin: 1 3/8"
  • Mandola: 1 1/2"
  • Octave Mandolin: 1 3/4"
  • Mandocello: 1 13/16"

The Harmonic Suppressor also fits instruments with similar string spacing. For wider spacing, it can be positioned slightly closer to the tailpiece. For narrower spacing, it may be installed at a slight angle to fit.

Installation Instructions

Install the Harmonic Suppressor on the strings, halfway between the bridge and the tailpiece. Spread the treble set of strings and slide the grommet down between them. Release the strings when they are in the grommet groove. Repeat on the bass set of strings. It may be angled slightly to match your string spacing.

Slide the Harmonic Suppressor into a position behind the bridge that is comfortable for your playing style. Do not touch the bridge or the saddle with the Suppressor.
