Skip Holmes

"Skip has been playing in bands for over thirty years.  Growing up in Southern Ontario, he played in rock and blues bands before getting into traditional  music in the early 1970s.  He played 5-string banjo with the Ladies Choice Bluegrass Band , touring extensively and recording two albums.  Skip was also a member of the house band on ATVs Up Home Tonight television show for its entire eight-year run.  He is currently a member of the Gordon Stobbe Trio, and the Richard Wood Band.
     Skip has done extensive radio and television  work, commercial jingles, and studio recordings, and has transcribed a number of books of fiddle tunes for Mel Bay Publications, including books on Byron Berline and Stuart Duncan , and a collection of original fiddle tunes by P.E.I. fiddler Richard Wood, published privately.
     Skip has been teaching guitar, fiddle, banjo, mandolin and dobro at the Canadian Conservatory of Music in Halifax, N.S. for the past twenty years, and has been a guest instructor at numerous workshops and fiddle camps throughout Canada."
