I began playing mandolin a few years ago now, maybe sixteen or so. Drawn, as many are, by that rich, colorful sound and the tastefully blazing styles of more than a few players. I am particularly influenced by, and attempt to pull off, rootsy, acoustic, traditional, contemporary, and original music of many genres - newgrass, ethnic, folk, island, Dawg, rock, gypsy swing, etc... Typically, I practice where we all should, at home, but I greatly enjoy sessions with friends, the band, and in festival campgrounds (or kitchens, barns, parking lots...). Our little three piece plays several Coulee Region (local) music festivals annually, along with the occasional bar, brewery, or party date. I do some solo recording and songwriting as well. There are many new tunes in a Weber.
I found my '98 Absaroka one winter day in 2001. I really liked the sound then almost as much as I do now - some bark, some bite, and some mellow. I had been following the Weber's endeavors for several years and am excited to have found such a fitting mandolin from such great people. The years went by, miles were travelled, and the Absaroka recently needed the long journey home for a personal visit. I am probably not worthy of the beautiful work they did for us, and am eternally grateful. This Absaroka #9818310 is an instrument I will continue to enjoy for many years with pride and wonder.
