Patrick Sylvest

Patrick Sylvest was born in Port Sulphur. LA where he lived until age 4. Spending his schoolyears in Gramercy, LA on the Mighty Mississippi, he began his music career playing guitar and singing in the Church choir, at school, and with garage bands. He and his family have settled in Thibodaux, Louisiana where Patrick enjoys his career as a Nurse Anesthetist.

Most recently, Patrick has opened shows for Guy Clark, Jack Williams, Spencer Bohren, Eric Taylor, Sarah Pierce and Randall Bramblett.  Patrick's CD's feature Instrumental virtuosos like Rob Ickes, Andy Leftwich, and Lloyd Maines, and Vocalists Carolyn Martin and Jodi James. His latest effort, 'Sylvestrings' from 2011 is aptly named, exhibiting his skill as a multi-instumentalist as well as a singer/songwriter. Check out the instrumental track, 'Out of the Loop', to hear his Weber mandolin at work in the studio.

He has played in several groups over the years serving as dobro and mandolinist for the Lafayette, LA based 'Folklure' and Thibodaux, LA based 'Moss Pickers' String Bands, as well as serving as mandolinist in his church praise and worship group. For his latest project, Patrick has teamed up with the Bayou State's hot guitarist, Brent Melancon to form the Gypsy Jazz duo, Le 'Hot Club de Lune';This is where his skills on his Weber Limited Edition mandolin can really shine! He shares regular gigs with his son, Matthew in the acoustic duo, 'Sylvestrings'. Patrick was a finalist in the 2008 13th Annual USA Songwriting Contest with his song, 'A Little Less Louisiana' and a second place finisher in the 2008 Rockygrass Dobro Contest.

Patrick offers, "In South Louisiana, the Mandolin is as rare as hen's teeth. It's been my pleasure to share it's lovely tones with the music lovers of Louisiana in the music we hold so dear."
