Katie Greer | Lindley Creek

She was 8 years old the first time she tried to play mandolin.  Lindley Creek’s Katie Greer began her bluegrass career at an early age.  The young Katie learned and grew and at the age of 11 became the band’s full-time mandolin player.  “I always wanted to sing, and when you’re in a bluegrass band you HAVE to learn to play an instrument!” She laughs.  To sing and not play was not an option.

What began as a “requirement” grew into a love for her instrument.  After suffering a house fire in 2008, the 11 year old Katie made the leap to the Weber Bitterroot when she replaced the starter mandolin that was lost in the fire.  It was a big jump for a pre-teen, but she was up to the task.

Now, 21, Katie Greer is an amazing vocalist as well as an accomplished mandolin player.  Her band, Lindley Creek travels full time from Canada to Texas and from New York to Arizona.  The impressive upcoming album, “Freedom, Love and the Open Road” features her powerful vocals and reflects her taste in progressive bluegrass and americana music.

“My Weber Bitterroot mandolin has grown with me through the years.  It has never let me down in the 10 years and thousands of miles traveled.  The sweet, full, resonating tone is perfect and I’m so glad to have made the jump to this great instrument as a kid picker.”
