I've been a guitar player for most of my 46 years, only taking to mandolin over the last few years.  My first experience with a vintage bowl-back wasn't good, then I had a succession of Asian made "instruments," each a little better than the one prior.  As I realized that I could actually be a decent mandolin player, I knew I needed a quality vehicle to achieve that on.  That turned out to be a Weber Hyalite.  As soon as I picked it up, everything changed.  From the first strum, I knew the tone was "right."  The real thing is the playability.  In the 1980's I was a shredding guitar player, until an industrial accident damaged my left hand (severing a fingertip, ligament damage, etc).  Since that time, I've been able to play, but not "shred."  This Hyalite plays so well--I CAN SHRED ON IT!!!  I'm shocked!!  (of course, i'm not meaning metal, but i'm playing crazy fast stuff that was unble for me to do for 20 years)  I'm mostly a couch-potato/backyard player, who does some bluegrass jams.  One of my sons is learning violin and it's a great pleasure teaching him "fiddle" tunes.  Life is good, I'm inspired!
