I've been a mathematician, a lawyer and now a computer science professor at Cal Poly State University. I've plinked and poked at the mandolin since I was in high school but only on rare occasions. For some reason, at the age of 51, I have become very, very interested in playing, especially Celtic and Old Time music.

I searched high and low for a mandolin that really fits my style.

After playing many mandolins in the $1000 - $5000 range I couldn't find anything worked well for me. One day, I walked into our local music shop and saw the Aspen 1. I played it and bought it in 15 minutes.

The clean, clear ringing and the "light" feel (and plain, simple look) captured my attention. I now play daily and I truly enjoy this little Aspen, something about it just speaks to me.
