Carrie Underwood Performs on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon

Anyone familiar with country mega star Carrie Underwood? If not, she first rose to fame in the fourth season of American Idol in 2005. Her powerful vocals and soulful lyrics have brought her success almost immediately. Throughout the show her talent stuck out and it lead her to be the winner of American Idol. Since her debut on American Idol she has won a vast array of awards, has been inducted into the Grand Ole Opry, and also into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame.

You might ask, “So what does Weber Fine Instruments have to do with Carrie Underwood?” Well, Carrie’s utility player, Jimmy Herman, is a die hard Weber artist. The multi-instrumentalist was raised on a rural west central Wisconsin (Pleasantville,WI) dairy farm, where country music was relatable to his family's everyday, hardworking life. He began touring with Carrie in 2008, and has developed quite the track record for live performances. He has played on the Grammys, ACM and CMA Awards, on Jimmy Fallon, Jay Leno, Good Morning America, Ellen, American Idol, Saturday Night Live, and more. Jimmy has had the opportunity to play many instruments and the fact that he chose a Weber mandolin as his go to is pretty impressive. “If you have ever picked up a Weber instrument, you know the brilliance that it must have taken to create such a beautiful looking and sounding piece of art.  Bruce overlooks whatever his workers produce; sometimes making them redo pieces and steps until it meets his standards.  He is picky and precise.  He knows when that instrument leaves his shop, it has his name and reputation on it and if it's not perfect; it doesn't see the light of day,” says Herman.

Bruce Weber and Jimmy got together to create a special Weber Mandolin. They call it the “Muley” mandolin, with a perfectly inlayed mule deer skull on the headstock that Weber drew up himself. “I have used it on every tour, tv show, and album since it arrived at my doorstep,” Jimmy states. And folks, he isn’t lying about taking Muley everywhere! Carrie Underwood recently performed her newest single “Smoke Break” on the Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon and guess who was rocking a mandolin right beside her? That’s right, Jimmy Herman with his Black Ice Weber mandolin named “Muley”!
