- Type: People Who Play
My interest in mandolin started in December 2000, when my younger son, a high school senior at the time, received a mandolin as a Christmas gift. He showed me the tuning and some basic chord structures on it. For about 16 months, I took bluegrass and old time fiddle tune lessons from a professional stringed instrument teacher. Since July 2004, I have been playing in a local bluegrass band. I have received several compliments from audience members and some other musicians about how good the tone sounds on this mandolin.
In July 2005, I enjoyed the musical highlight of my life and was able to try out my new Yellowstone at the professional level, when I had the privilege of playing mandolin as a guest with the Norfolk Southern Lawmen, a top professional touring band.
My custom Yellowstone is expertly crafted with a lot of care, as evidenced by the superb tone and volume, and the flawless fit and finish. It has a full 'woof' on chord chops, and is clear and balanced on all individual notes right up the neck. It's wonderful to play, and is already a treasured family heirloom which I intend to pass along to a grandchild some day. My thanks to everyone at Weber. You built a great one for me
