Kurt Laubhan

Kurt Laubhan

Kurt started playing guitar at age of 7 and picked up the mandolin shortly after. For years, Kurt saved up for his first high-quality mandolin, and when he met Bruce Weber at NAMM in 1998, he knew he had to have a Weber mandolin. Since Kurt's first really wonderful mandolin was a Weber, 15 years later, he takes particular pride in handcrafting Weber instruments. Based on his experience, he knows how the right instrument can inspire a player in inexplicable ways. He loves working on each instrument, taking great care, knowing that each instrument is destined for the hands of a player who has been dreaming of that exact instrument.

Prior to joining Weber in 2013, Kurt ran his own repair shop for 20 years in Modesto, California and as a result, he can repair anything you can strum or bow. In his spare time, he likes to gather friends and play music – he's been a fan of bluegrass, Celtic and old-time string music for 35 years. He and his wife Maria also enjoy contra dancing.
